Federal agents secretly record a Yale soccer coach offer agree to help an applicant gain admission to the school exchange for $450,000 in a Boston hotel room. Rick Singer, the scheme’s mastermind, subsequently confesses to helping some 50 parents including Hollywood stars, in the scheme to gain admission to various colleges for their children. Forty-six parents subsequently plead guilty of fraud and bribery charges in U.S. District Court, and Singer is sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison on January 4, 2023.
